Sardinia: S'ozzastru, the ancient ...
Sardinia is one of the lands with the highest high rate of longevity in the world. It is not uncommon to find people who reach 100 years, often overcoming them.
This precious region is called a micro-contract for the presence of a great variety of ecosystems that have contributed to preserving the lives of all its inhabitants, animals and plant.
The famous poet and singer Fabrizio De Andrè defines "Life in Sardinia [as] perhaps the best that a man can wish: twenty -four thousand kilometers of forests, countryside, coasts immersed in a miraculous sea should coincide with what I would recommend the good God to give us as a paradise"
A unique, distant island, for centuries and centuries "on the margins" of the history and trade of the Mediterranean, but also the cradle of ancient civilizations, the most famous and mysterious is that of the "shepherds" who left us the "nuraghi" .
To look even further back in the story, however, we find an incredible living being that has managed to get to the present day: among the green declivi of the historical sub -trim of Gallura, in a hill about 260 meters above the sea level named Luras , there is the oldest tree in Italy, an olive tree (Olea Europaea) which is more than 4,000 years old.
S'ozzastru "the olive" is ancient, majestic, lush and tall as a 4 -storey building! The grandfather of all trees is defined ... a very special grandfather who in the course of 4 millennia has seen the history of human beings scroll under its roots: while it began to grow its roots, the ancient Egyptian pyramids had been Built for a few centuries and the Rome Foundation was still very far away. The Phoenicians would have landed after a millennium and the Nuragic civilization would have met and known him two centuries after his birth ...
His measures:
11 meters of circumference
14 meters high
21 square meters of area covered with its thick hair
S’Ozzastru was declared in 1991 natural monument and fortunately it still enjoys excellent health.
